EastEnders legend looks worlds away from her character in new Netflix role 4 years after being killed off & jungle stint
EASTENDERS actress Jessica Plummer looks worlds away from her time in Walford as Chantelle Atkins after landing a major new Netflix role.
The formidable actress, 31, will be appearing in the streaming service’s brand new show The Decameron which launches later this month.
Jess’s raunchy new series has been likened to Love Island set in the 1300s.
Little is known about her character called Filomena other than she is “a spoiled oddball with a chip on her shoulder” but a first-look trailer has seen the star in action for the very first time.
A synpsysi for the brand new series reads: “In 1348, as the Black Death ravages Florence, a number of nobles and their servants retreat to the countryside Villa Santa.
“As they try to wait out the plague in the hills of Tuscany with wine and sex, the group eventually must fight for their survival.”
Co-starring in the programme alongside Jessica is US star Zosia Mamet, Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Sex Education‘s Tanya Reynolds.
Sharing her excitement at the upcoming release of the show, Jessica shared a clip of the trailer alongside the caption: “A little teaser of what’s to come!”
Commenting their excitement underneath, one of Jessica’s adoring fans said: “Wowza! That was a lot to take in. Loving the modern music with the old era.”
As another added: “This is amazing.”
Jessica is best known for her role as murdered Chantelle Atkins in the BBC soap opera EastEnders.
Fans of the show were left horrified when she was brutally killed by her husband Gray as part of a hard-hitting domestic abuse storyline.
Chantelle suffered horrific abuse at the hands of Gray in silence before he pushed her during a row where she fell on a knife in the open dishwasher.
Prior to finding fame in Walford, Jessica was also known for being one fourth of pop band Neon Jungle.
The group achieved success with hits including Braveheart and Welcome to the Jungle before Jess switched her attention to acting.
Her first TV role after leaving Albert Square was a successful stint in I’m A Celebrity where she headed to the Welsh castle and took on her fair share of Bushtucker Trials.
Jessica took part in an infamous drinking trial that left hosts Ant and Dec in hysterics as they failed to keep their composure during filming.
Since her time on the ITV reality show, Jess has also appeared in the BBC series The Girl Before.
