See it: Kayaker rescued from NYC waters
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Police grabbed a “distressed” kayaker from a strong current in Mill Basin Monday, and video posted by police shows the rescue.
Video shows a person in the water next to a green and blue kayak with one other kayaker still paddling as first responders approach. The kayakers are brought to a boat during the rescue.
Two rescue divers airlifted the 37-year-old to Floyd Bennett Field for medical attention, but the person refused, according to police.
Water safety has become a concern for authorities after multiple people died in New York City waters in recent weeks, including a man who drowned in Manhattan waters while trying to cool off. Two young sisters drowned in Coney Island Friday.
