GE Vernova to invest $22M in Schenectady facility
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- GE Vernova is planning on adding over 150 new jobs at its Schenectady facility with a $22 million investment, the company announced on Wednesday. The investment will allow the facility to manufacture new advanced generators.
"This investment will help us deliver for our global customers and allow us to expand our highly skilled work force in the Capital District,” said CEO Scott Strazik. “We are committed to growing our best-in-class facility in Schenectady, and this is another strong step in that direction.”
GE Vernova will be building H65 and H84 generators. An advanced process is needed to manufacture these generators' stator bars and stator core system and to accompany their HA gas turbines, said the company.
This announcement comes after GE Vernova invested $50 million in the Schenectady facility in 2023 to manufacture new onshore wind turbines, which created around 200 jobs and 56 units so far. Another $11 million also went to the Schenectady facility for new capacity, facility maintenance, and equipment and tool management.
GE Vernova completed its spin-off of from General Electric and officially because a public company in April. At the end of June, GE Vernova was announced as the new lead sponsor of the Saratoga Jazz Festival.
"This region is the foundation on which GE Vernova is built," said Strazik. "We have amazing talent here and we plan to continue to cultivate and invest in them."
