BBC Breakfast’s Jon Kay scolded by co-star as Sally Nugent remains missing from screens in hosting shake up
JON Kay got a real telling-off on BBC Breakfast today.
The long-time presenter was without his usual co-host – Sally Nugent – for a third day running in a huge hosting shake-up.

This is after she took up the role of correspondent on the corporation’s mammoth coverage of the General Election results.
But it seems that Jon, 54, might be missing her more than usual this morning, as tensions were raised in the BBC Breakfast studio.
He was chatting with his co-star, Sarah Campbell about the iconic Uffington White Horse tribal sign.
The prehistoric Oxfordshire hill chalk figure recently underwent a “facelift,” due to fears it was shrinking.
During the previous report, the hillside figure was referred to as “the old nag,” which didn’t impress Sarah.
She branded the comments as “disrespectful,” but Jon was quick to chime in with his own opinion.
He quipped: “Especially when the old nag’s looking rather good, now! I’d like a makeover like that!”
Sarah tried to move the segment along as she proposed they look in on weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, 62, who was dressed in a plunging white gown.
Jon was left reeling as he joked, “I daren’t. I daren’t!”
He was left with a caution from Sarah, who exclaimed: “Don’t say anything … Morning Carol! ”
It seems that the longtime weather personality also felt the tension, as she joked: “I’m shaking in my shoes this morning for a minute there.
“I think we all were!” replied Jon to a burst of giggles from Carol.
Later in the show, the sofa hosts went to Carol for another weather update, where it was clear from their demeanour that the pair were cautious.
Who are the current presenters of BBC Breakfast?
The flagship BBC show has had dozens of presenters during its impressive 40 years on air but the current stars are:
Jon Kay – Since 2022
Sally Nugent – Since 2021
Charlie Stayt – Since 2006
Naga Munchetty – Since 2014
Carol Kirkwood – Since 1997
After discussing the archaeological landmark again, Sarah declared it was time for another forecast from the fan favourite meteorologist.
“Dare we?”, asked a seemingly nervous Jon, to which the royal correspondent replied: “Let’s give it a go.”
