SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Several areas across the region were under tornado watches and warnings as Tropical Storm Beryl moves into the ArkLaTex Monday afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook Monday for southwest Arkansas, northern Louisiana, eastern Texas, and southeast Oklahoma. Beryl made landfall as a category 1 hurricane this morning, bringing strong winds and a threat of flash flooding. But Beryl will likely be remembered for the number of quick spin-up tornadoes it produced; a historic 67 tornado warnings were issued across National Weather Service Shreveport's coverage area.

SWEPCO warned that high winds from the storm would affect their coverage area, and they will continue to monitor the weather as it moves through the ArkLaTex.

Outages
Over 45,000 customers across the region have lost power due to the recent storms.
As of 8:30 a.m., around 35,159 SWEPCO customers are without power. Large areas throughout the region have been affected, and crews are still assessing the conditions in many places.
Beryl knocked out power to 19 of the Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative's 34 substations Monday, leaving over 30,000 customers without power. Many of the substations were repaired overnight and in the early morning hours Tuesday. Power remains out at the Martinsville, Hilltop (Shelby County, south of Center), Hemphill, Six Mile, Holly (San Augustine County), Pendleton, and Black Ankle substations.

Around 96 Entergy customers in southwest Arkansas are without power, primarily in Columbia and Lafayette counties. In northwest Louisiana, around 340 Entergy customers are without power as of Tuesday morning, mainly in Webster Parish.
Around 2,525 customers in the Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative coverage area remain without power due to the storm across the region. Officials said that they expect to have service repaired to most, if not all, meters today, barring unforeseen circumstances.
