The Troy Police Department has been reviewing an officer’s use of force after police say they were called to a large street fight early Friday morning. Also, State Police responded to a fatal crash after a drag race at the Lebanon Valley Speedway on Sunday. These stories, and more, are covered in your five things to know this Tuesday morning.

1. Troy PD investigating officer’s use of force

The Troy Police Department has been reviewing an officer’s use of force after police say they were called to a large street fight early Friday morning. In a statement after the incident, Assistant Police Chief Steven Barker said any use of force while responding to a scene is inspected and held to the department’s standards.

2. Drowning investigation underway in Troy

An investigation is underway, and police are working to identify a man after he died in the Hudson River in the city of Troy on Monday.

3. Fatal crash in New Lebanon following drag race

State Police say they responded to a Lebanon Valley Speedway for a fatal crash on Sunday. William Janke, 57, of Newburgh, lost control of his vehicle and struck a barrier during a sanctioned drag race.

4. Watervliet PD investigating toddler’s death

The Watervliet Police Department is investigating after a child died on Monday.
