_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As Beryl tracks from Arkansas to Michigan today, it will
spread heavy, flooding rain across the southern Mississippi
and Ohio valleys. There is a risk of tornadoes in the middle
Mississippi and Ohio valleys. In the wake of Beryl, seas and
surf will subside gradually over the Gulf of Mexico. It will
be hot and humid in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic with a
spotty afternoon thunderstorm or two. In the Great Lakes
region, a few afternoon thundershowers may develop. The
northern Plains will be sunny with Beryl passing to the
southeast. An area of high pressure over the West will
continue to promote a prolonged period of dry weather and
scorching heat. Many locations will break daily record-high
temperatures and even approach all-time records. The heat
will expand into the western Rocky Mountains.
