Noughties TV legends look unrecognisable as they reunite 12 years after on-screen romance and tragic death plot
GREY’S Anatomy legends Chyler Leigh and Justin Chambers delighted fans as they reunited 12 years after their on-screen romance.
Fans have lost their minds as the duo posed for a photo together at the weekend.
Chyler, who played main character Meredith Grey’s little sister Lexie from season three to eight, took to Instagram to share the snap.
The actress, 42, was all smiles as she posed alongside Justin, 53, who portrayed Alex Karev from 2005 until season 16.
His character left for Seattle to start his life with his ex Izzie Stevens and their children.
Unfortunately, Lexie didn’t get a happy ending and tragically died on a plane crash in 2012.
She did however return for a special cameo during a dream sequence in season 17 when Meredith was in a COVID-induced coma.
The pair looked unrecognisable from their time on the long-running ABC prime-time medical drama.
Justin wore a green hooded jumper and tinted sunglasses and Chyler opted for a classic black t-shirt and her hair in a ponytail.
Chyler captioned it: “KAREV… forever charming,” with a red love heart.
Fans have sprinted to the comment section to share their joy at the reunion.
One wrote: “When Alex Karev and Lexie Grey reunite in a photo, it’s like a throwback to when our TV hearts weren’t shattered into a million pieces!”
A second posted: “The internet just broke,” followed by a crying face emoji.
A third asked: “WAIT ARE LEXI AND ALEX MAKING A COMEBACK?! I would literally start watching Grey’s again!!!!”
While someone else added: “My little Grey’s loving heart is so happy right now!”
It comes after it was revealed that a fan-favourite Jason George is returning to the series.
The actor, 52, has closed a deal to rejoin the main cast of the ABC medical drama for the upcoming 21st season, per Deadline.
George played Dr. Ben Warren on Grey’s Anatomy before helping launch the spin-off series Station 19 in 2018.
He first appeared in the long-running medical drama during its sixth season before joining the main cast from Season 12 to 14.
Over the past seven seasons, George appeared as a series regular on the Seattle-set firefighter drama while also making frequent guest appearances on the mother series, both produced by Shondaland and ABC Signature.
George’s return comes as Grey’s Anatomy prepares to bid farewell to series regulars, Jake Borelli and Midori Francis – who will wrap their characters’ arcs this fall.
His character, Ben Warren, ended the seventh and final season of Station 19 by setting up a return to Grey’s Anatomy as during the series finale he told his captain, Andy Herrera, played by Jaina Lee Ortiz, that he’d be going back to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to finish his surgical residency.
The mother series had left the door open for Ben’s return as in 2017, as a fifth-year resident at Grey Sloan, he found a way to pursue a dream second career as a firefighter without jeopardizing his chances at returning to complete his residency should he choose to do so.
