‘Get him out’ demand baffled fans as Joey Essex reignites row with fellow islander
Angry Love Island fans are calling on Joey Essex to be dumped from the show after he sparked a huge row with a fellow islander.
Joey, 33, was seen kicking off at Casa Amor bombshell Blade Siddiqi, 29, in the latest episode after learning he had questioned his intelligence.
Blade had commented that Joey wasn’t “the sharpest tool in the box” while in Casa and it was played out during Movie Night.
Joey has now pulled Blade up on his remark and warned him that he is clever.
He also raged in the Beach Hut: “You might beat me in an English exam but you ain’t never beating me in anything else, mate. “
Fans, however, have been left both annoyed and baffled after the former Only Way Is Essex star made millions out of being ‘dumb’.
One even pointed out that Joey claimed he was unable to do basic life skills during his previous stint in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!.
Ranting on X, formerly known as Twitter, the viewer said: “Joey. You couldn’t tell the time or tie your shoelaces in I’m A Celeb, you’re not known for being smart and quick.”
Another added: “Joey has made a whole career on being ‘dumb’ but now is offended that people are insulting his intelligence?”
A third echoed: “Joey has literally made a whole career out of being stupid like that’s literally his ‘character’ why is he so upset.”
And a fourth complained: “Not joey being offended someone called him slow when he’s based his entire brand on being thick as s***.”
Someone else even demanded: “Joey is so annoying. Get him out!”
Joey found fame in 2011 when he joined the cast of The Only Way Is Essex.
He wore two watches – one on his wrist and one on his ankle – yet famously claimed he couldn’t tell the time.
During an episode of Celebrity Juice, he was asked which country borders Wales and replied: “London.”
Blade made his comment about Joey’s intelligence during a wild game during the Casa Amor relationship challenge.
The islanders in both Casa and the main villa were told that the oldest girl had to kiss the oldest boy.
Love Island series 11 - feuds in the villa
No edition of Love Island is complete without its fair share of drama - and series 11 is no different. Here's a look at some of the most fiery feuds so far.
- Joey Essex & Samantha Kenny: Samantha entered the villa on Day 1 and was initially coupled with Sam Taylor. However, Samantha was ‘stolen’ by Joey, the first bombshell of series 11. She was ‘dumped’ on Day 16 – with the make-up artist saying she had been brutally snubbed by Joey in the villa – although it never made it to air.
- Matilda Draper & Jess White: While Matilda arrived as a bombshell on Day 12, Jess was part of the original line-up. The two clashed in Casa Amor, over Jess’ frustration that Matilda was talking to new hunk Hugo Godfroy – who Jess previously snogged.
- Harriet Blackmore & Jess White: The two women were caught up in a love triangle for much of their time on the programme. The pair were fighting over Ronnie Vint, 27, from Greenwich, who wound up being dumped alongside Harriett.
Blade suggested Joey wouldn’t be able to grasp the challenge quickly enough to win, describing him as “not the sharpest tool in the box”.
However, his pal and former Towie star James ‘Diags’ Bennwith has since jumped to the defence of his mate.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Diags pointed out Joey must be doing something right to be a millionaire in his thirties.
He said: “Some idiot was talking about him being stupid – that butler in the buff geezer – how can you call him stupid he is a multi-millionaire.
“He is 33.. he went, ‘he is old and he is really thick.’ I thought, ‘he is smarter than you!’ You are not sitting there in your £3million house.”
