Trump reveals RNC convention agenda — and there's a glaring change from his last one

0

The 2024 Republican Party convention has made a significant departure from a theme central to 2016.

Comparing the themes of the last platform with the new one that Trump's campaign published Monday, almost everything is a repeat except for one glaring change — the presumptive Republican nominee has apparently given up on bipartisanship.

At the 2016 convention, organizers separated each day to discuss major topics. The first night, for example, was dedicated to national security. They brought in retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and Rudy Giuliani to speak. The second was about jobs, featuring Tiffany Trump, former Speakers Paul Ryan (R-WI) and future Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

The final night day of the 2016 convention was "Make America One Again," which discussed ways in which Trump "will move our country beyond the divisive identity politics that have been holding us back by restoring leadership, building trust, and focusing on our shared love of country and our common goal of making America great again."

The speakers included Peter Thiel, Tom Barrack, and Ivanka Trump.

Trump and Thiel had a falling out, and the latter said that he wanted nothing to do with the 2024 campaign. Tom Barrack was indicted for foreign lobbying, but was acquitted.

In 2024, the themes include Make America Wealthy Once Again, a repeat of Make America Safe Once Again, Make America Strong Once Again, and Make America Great Once Again.

But noticeably absent is the unity campaign, "Make America One Again."

Unlike with the 2016 pre-agenda, the list of speakers hasn't been released yet.

The Republican National Convention begins Monday, Jul 15.
