Fire in Paphos district

Firefighting efforts are underway to control a fire that broke out on Monday afternoon near the village of Salamiou, in the Paphos district.

According to a post published by Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis on X, the blaze is burning through dry grass and wild vegetation.

The Fire Service responded by deploying four fire engines to the area.

In addition to ground support, five aircrafts have been mobilised to assist in the operations. The response also includes the involvement of the civil defence and the police, with additional support provided by the forestry department.

The situation is being monitored closely as efforts to bring the fire under control continue.
