Love Island fix row as fans claim ‘wrong couple went home’ in shock dumping
LOVE Island fans are in uproar after the latest brutal double dumping – believing the wrong couple went home.
On Sunday night’s episode, the ITV2 series aired its annual Love Island Film Festival, known to most as ‘Movie Night’.
But this year’s event, which shows the islanders some of the most incriminating moments from this series so far, ended in more drama than expected with a sudden double dumping just when they all thought they were safe.
Told to retake their seats for a special ‘Critics Choice’ segment, the islanders were horrified when all their couples appeared on the screen, before the reveal they had been put up for public vote.
Viewers were told to vote for their favourite couple, or those they considered “most compatible”.
Matilda Draper was then sent a text saying Trey Norman and Ellie Jackson had to immediately leave the villa.
Trey and Ellie both looked visibly annoyed that their time on the show has been cut short, particularly as neither of them had been on the show longer than 10 days.
Emotionally hugging the rest of the islanders goodbye, Ellie and Trey were seen looking upset as the other castmates were seen openly weeping over the brutal twist.
Ellie later kept her words short as she and Trey were interviewed in the immediate aftermath, simply saying it was “bittersweet” that she had to leave.
However, after the behaviour of others during movie night, viewers were furious at the sudden exits, believing two others deserved to go home more.
Particularly, they took aim at Ayo Odukoya and Jess White, original castmates who fans believe are “villains” of the show.
Now, fans cried “fix” yet again as they want to get them out.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one fan wrote: “I thought we all agreed that we ain’t voting for Ayo and jess or did the producers have hand in it.”
“Production stop this,” said another. “Before dumping anyone you should have called the three or four least voted couples. Keep protecting, we see you.”
“Who voted for Ayo?????????? Should have been him,” raged a third, while a fourth said: “Y’all messed this up! You should have called the 3 least voted couples first before dumping
There’s no way they got the fewest. No one likes Ayo now and no one likes Jess.”
Love Island series 11 - feuds in the villa
No edition of Love Island is complete without its fair share of drama - and series 11 is no different. Here's a look at some of the most fiery feuds so far.
- Joey Essex & Samantha Kenny: Samantha entered the villa on Day 1 and was initially coupled with Sam Taylor. However, Samantha was ‘stolen’ by Joey, the first bombshell of series 11. She was ‘dumped’ on Day 16 – with the make-up artist saying she had been brutally snubbed by Joey in the villa – although it never made it to air.
- Matilda Draper & Jess White: While Matilda arrived as a bombshell on Day 12, Jess was part of the original line-up. The two clashed in Casa Amor, over Jess’ frustration that Matilda was talking to new hunk Hugo Godfroy – who Jess previously snogged.
- Harriet Blackmore & Jess White: The two women were caught up in a love triangle for much of their time on the programme. The pair were fighting over Ronnie Vint, 27, from Greenwich, who wound up being dumped alongside Harriett.
“Thank God for that, but it should have been a double dumping with Ayo and Jessica going with them,” added a fifth.
During Movie Night, both Jess and Ayo were in the firing line thanks to the clips exposing their past behaviour.
Fans thought Ayo was given too nice an edit, with producers opting to hide a secret kiss on the terrace from the clip.
Meanwhile Jess was caught out for stirring the pot by telling Sean Stone that his partner Matilda was pulling Casa Amor boy Hugo Godfroy for flirty chats while Jess was getting to know him.
Sean and Matilda later exploded at each other in a row when scenes of Sean kissing girls in Casa Amor and calling them “his priority” were aired.
Matilda argued that a conversation isn’t the same thing, prompting Sean to yell at her that Hugo had “shut it down” with her and that’s the real reason why she didn’t stray.
