Bruins’ Jeremy Swayman Hoping To Start New Postgame Goalie Tradition

All hope is not lost for the chance of a new goaltender postgame celebration for the Boston Bruins in the 2024-25 season.

Jeremy Swayman lost his goaltending partner Linus Ullmark to a trade with the Ottawa Senators in June. The Bruins added goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to most likely serve as Boston’s backup goalie next season.

In Ullmark and Swayman’s time together in Boston, they created the widely known goalie hug that became a staple after Bruins wins. While Ullmark shut down the chance of either him or Swayman recreating the hug with their respective teams, the latter is not ruling out the chance of a new tradition.

“I know we don’t have the hug anymore but there’s still going to be something going on after Bruins games, I can only imagine,” Swayman said in a Cameo video. “Hopefully (Korpisalo) and I are going to find something cool, and we’ll keep that tradition going, no doubt.”

The 25-year-old goaltender and the Bruins have not reached an agreement on a contract for the upcoming season. Both the team and Swayman opted to not elect arbitration, meaning he can hear offers from other teams.

If the goaltender does come to an agreement with the Bruins, a new postgame tradition between Swayman and Korpisalo will be something Boston fans will have to look out for.
