Anya Taylor-Joy Details Husband Malcolm McRae's Proposal, Reveals 'Forrest Gump' Connection!

Anya Taylor-Joy is opening up about Malcolm McRae‘s proposal.

The 28-year-old Queen’s Gambit star spoke out in an interview with Letterboxd while promoting Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga alongside Chris Hemsworth on Saturday,(July 6), the 30th anniversary of the release date of Forrest Gump.

During the conversation, Chris asked Anya if something “special” in her life happened on the iconic bench from the movie.

“Yes, my husband accidentally proposed to me on the Forrest Gump bench in Savannah,” she revealed, adding that it was a “complete accident.”

“And he’s a boy from Alabama and I’m blonde so…it just happened,” she continued. “I hear that music and I cry like a baby.”

The couple secretly married in New Orleans in April 2022 before having a second wedding in Venice in October 2023.

If you didn’t know, much of the 1994 film centers around the bench, with Forrest (Tom Hanks) recounting his life story to strangers he meets on the bench while waiting for a bus.
