Man arrested for ‘murder’ as car mounts pavement and runs over four people
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car mounted pavement and hit four people before being driven away.
Officers were called to Prince Street, Walsall, just before 5pm on Friday, West Midlands Police said.
A spokesperson said: ‘The driver fled the scene and two men in their 20s were taken to hospital with serious injuries.’
Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening and the two other men were not seriously hurt.
Officers said they arrested the 27-year-old man on Friday night and he remained in custody for questioning.
They added officers have found a vehicle they suspected was involved.
A spokesperson said: ‘ We’ve arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after four people were hit by a car in Walsall.
‘We were called after a vehicle mounted the pavement in Prince Street just before 5pm yesterday (5 July).
‘The driver fled the scene and two men in their 20s were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
‘Fortunately, they’re not believed to be life-threatening and the other two men were not seriously hurt.
‘Following quick-time enquires we identified a suspect and a 27-year-old man was last night arrested. He currently remains in custody for questioning.
‘We’ve also recovered the vehicle suspected of being involved and this will now undergo forensic examination.
