England WIN thrilling penalty shootout against Switzerland to reach Euro 2024 semi-final after Saka’s late heroics
ENGLAND dramatically beat Switzerland on penalties to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2024.
Gareth Southgate’s men conceded 15 minutes from time as Monaco striker Embolo, 27, bundled home from close range.
England had looked more positive in the first half as Southgate switched to a back three.
Bukayo Saka was the Three Lions’ biggest threat from right wing-back, but England still failed to muster a shot on target.
And they were made to pay in the second period as they retreated before conceding to Embolo.
Ruben Vargas’ cross found its way to the No7 and he bundled home.
Yet England were behind for just five minutes as Saka’s long-range effort flew into the far bottom corner to send England fans wild.
That’s how it remained until the end of extra time, before the two sides faced off in a penalty shoot-out.
