WATERFORD, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Hundreds of people gathered for the annual Independence Day fireworks celebration at the Waterford Harbor Visitors Center on Friday. Crowds were seated on both sides on the Erie Canal for the fireworks show. The celebration was made up of live music, dancing, and fireworks.

The festivities took place right on the water, which allowed for the fireworks show to be viewed both on land and by boat. Firework show attendee Susan Talbot said she and her husband were traveling by boat for the holiday, but made a stop in Waterford for the show.

“We are from Lake Champlain, and we’re on our way to the Thousand Islands, Quebec City, the Champlain Canal, and back down on the northern part of Lake Champlain," Talbot said.

The band Johnny Rabb and His Big Band began performing at 6 p.m., which was followed by the 9 p.m. firework show.

The Waterford High and Middle School Baseball Team took advantage of the opportunity to sell food to the crowd. As a way to fundraise, family members, friends, and players of the baseball team sold hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, and lemonade.

The fireworks show lasted nearly 30 minutes. People lined up along the harbor to view the show.
