Why FS1 Host Gives Patriots ‘Absolutely No Shot’ For This Goal
The New England Patriots remain in a rebuild even after a significant roster boost in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The team boasts several competitive players on the defensive front while the offense will rely on the pace of development from rookie quarterback Drake Maye, receiver Ja’Lynn Polk, tight end Hunter Henry and recently-extended running back Rhamondre Stevenson.
For that reason, the Patriots may not see a major change in record from their 4-13 mark during a poor 2023 season.
As a result, FS1’s Jason McIntyre did not choose kindly when ranking the Patriots in his Super Bowl hierarchy of contenders. New England ended up in the “absolutely no way” tier along with the Denver Broncos, the New York Giants, the Las Vegas Raiders and the Arizona Cardinals.
The Patriots will certainly have work to do with still plenty of talent within the AFC East with the Buffalo Bills, the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins all set to contend once again in 2024.
New England’s rebuild could speed up if rookies such as Maye and Polk can show true signs of development once their number is called during the season. The Patriots are finding players they want to build around as 2024 provides a first look at what’s to come.
