My 79-year-old grandma barely had a wrinkle when she died – house plant ‘goo’ was the secret to her very glowy skin
FROM serums to red light therapy, there are a wide variety of ways to tackle wrinkles.
One woman revealed the DIY hack she uses to prevent visible signs of aging on her skin.
Commenting on a Reddit post, user Starcat222 shared how she learned the simple trick.
The poster explained that the technique was passed down through her family.
She swapped out her anti-aging skincare regime for the all-natural solution.
“My grandmother used to buy aloe vera plants, split them open, and rub the goo on her skin,” the Redditor said.
The social media user decided to practice her green thumb after seeing how well the plant worked for her grandmother.
“She died at 79 with very glowy skin and barely a wrinkle on her face,” she explained.
The experts at the National Library of Medicine studied the role of aloe vera in anti-aging efforts.
After surveying 30 women over the age of 45, they found their “facial wrinkles improved significantly.”
“Aloe gel significantly improves wrinkles and elasticity in photoaged human skin,” they concluded.
The experts reported “an increase in collagen production in the photoprotected skin and a decrease in the collagen-degrading MMP-1 gene expression.”
Skincare experts have yet to determine if the concentration level of the aloe affects results.
WebMD also explained the effect of aloe vera gel on aging complexions.
While it can’t eliminate existing wrinkles, the ingredient is effective at preventing further fine lines.
“It won’t get rid of old lines and wrinkles [but] aloe vera can help prevent new signs of aging around your eyes,” they said.
“The ingredients in aloe vera also help your skin make collagen and elastin.”

This means the gel can “make your skin appear smoother and more elastic.”
They also broke down the best way to make use of the gel from an aloe vera plant.
“To use fresh aloe vera first cut a piece from the plant,” the experts said.
“Take the gel out of the leaf using a spoon or similar tool and massage a small amount on your skin.
“Use the gel the same way you use a face cream.”
