ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The restaurant industry is ever-changing with restaurants opening, closing, relocating, or just doing their thing. Here’s a recap of the latest Capital Region restaurant news, July 1 through 5.

Latin kitchen opens second location in Albany

Viva Empanadas has opened its second location in the former The Bishop space in Albany. The restaurant is in its soft opening phase from July 1 to 5.

Bistro opens in former Bombers space in Albany

A new restaurant called Out of Town Bistro has opened in Albany. The eatery is located in the former Bombers Burrito Bar space at 258 Lark Street.

Capital Region restaurant inspections: June 24-28

Here are the inspections from June 24 to 28 reported by the NYSDOH divided up by critical violations, non-critical violations, and no violations. You can find a list of all restaurant inspections for the last several years on the NYSDOH website.

Watervliet bakery set for Cohoes expansion

On June 18, the Cohoes Industrial Development Agency (IDA) voted to accept the proposal submitted by Watervliet’s Schuyler Bakery for the former Golden Krust Bakery site at 180 Ontario Street in Cohoes. Golden Krust Bakery burned down in 2006.

Guilderland Restaurant Week returns July 15

The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce is bringing back Guilderland Restaurant Week from July 15 to 22. The week features special pre-fixe menus, discounts, and offers at participating restaurants for $24.24.

Take a Bite returning to Glens Falls on July 10

Take a Bite is returning to Glens Falls for 2024. Restaurants in the downtown area will be serving up small plates on Wednesdays from July 10 to August 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Scotia coffee shop opening new location in Schenectady

Storied Coffee & Milk Teas is making its return to Schenectady. The coffee shop is opening up a second location at 123 Jay Street in the former Saratoga Coffee Traders space.

Sushi restaurant closes its doors in Albany

KA Sushi, located at 287 New Scotland Avenue in Albany, has closed its doors. According to a Facebook post, the eatery closed at the end of June as their lease had ended.
