The Latest | Hamas says it got a 'positive response' from mediators to its cease-fire amendments
A spokesperson for Hamas says the group’s proposed amendments to the most recent U.S. plan for a cease-fire in Gaza “have been met with a positive response by the mediators.” However, the Palestinian militant group said Friday that “the official Israeli position has not yet become clear.” The group also said a date for the negotiations has not been set. Cease-fire talks are being mediated by the U.S., Qatar and Egypt. They appear to be reviving after having stalled for weeks. Israel's nearly nine-month war in Gaza has caused massive devastation across the besieged territory and displaced most of its 2.3 million people.
