The 49-year-old had asked school teacher Hanifa a history question which didn’t go to plan.
Ben said: “At the Malta Summit in 1989, which US president declared the end of the Cold War?”
The question stopped Hanifa in her tracks as she struggled to correctly answer it.
She told Ben: “I should know this as I did A Level history…I’m debating between two. J.F Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln.”
Eventually the Londoner went with Kennedy, which was the wrong answer, with Ben looking for George HW Bush.
Host Ben had to remind Hanifa that Abraham was the 16th president of the United States back in the 1860s.
For fans watching at home who had only just discovered the hilarious blunder, they flooded social media with comments.
One said: “Absolutely, and I can’t emphasise this enough, f***ing extraordinary.”
A second wrote: “Reminder that the format of Tipping Point makes it very possible to be this wrong and still end up winning £10,000.”
“The fact that my first thought seeing the question was President Bush and she…she did A Level history and is mentioning Abraham Lincoln? In 1989?? I would have forgiven the Kennedy mention but damn,” said a third.
Tipping Point airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
