'Everyone is miserable': White House insiders describe staffers' despair amid uncertainty
The Joe Biden White House has become demoralized, with staffers "miserable" and top aides a "black hole" in the wake of last week's debate debacle, according to a new report.
Axios spoke to several unnamed sources who described despair among staffers as the president became mired in a swirl of questions concerning his performance.
"Everyone is miserable, and senior advisers are a total black hole. Even if you're trying to focus on work, nothing is going to break through or get any acknowledgment (from bosses)," a White House official told Axios
Some Democrats have called for Biden to drop out of the race, while others are rallying around him — and are treating the would-be ousters as backstabbers set to throw the presidential election into chaos.
Axios reported that the heated conversations are having major repercussions throughout the White House.
A "high-ranking Democratic National Committee official" told Axios, "The only thing that can really allay concerns is for the president to demonstrate that he's capable of running this campaign. Everything else feels like 'Weekend at Bernie's' by his inner circle to prop him up."

The report also claimed that three top officials are acting as Biden's controllers — Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomasini, aide Ashley Williams, and First Lady Jill Biden's top adviser Anthony Bernal.
"Annie, Ashley and Anthony create a protective bubble around POTUS," a source told Axios.
"He's staffed so closely that he's lost all independence. POTUS relies on staff to nudge him with reminders of who he's meeting, including former staffers and advisers who Biden should easily remember without a reminder from Annie."
