I worked for Travelodge… people love the breakfasts but they’re horrible, they serve ‘bag eggs’ that rise like popcorn

MOST people have a story or two about their previous workplaces, whether they’re horrible, funny, or nice.

Sometimes, companies have secrets, and it turns out Travelodge have a pretty big one.

Hosts Hosts Tom and Joe were shocked to learn the truth[/caption]

Appearing on the Things People Did podcast, comedian Karl Porter told hosts Joe Marler and Tom Fordyce about his various former employments, which included the hotel chain.

It turns out their breakfasts aren’t all what they seem.

“I love a Travelodge,” Tom said.

“Do you?” asked Joe, “What do you think of a Travelodge breakfast?”

“Yeah, but have you seen the breakfast and how it’s made and everything? Jesus Christ,” said Karl.

Tom and Joe began to protest, asking him not to reveal what he knows and ruin their beloved breakfasts.

Karl then explained what his early morning starts entailed when he worked at a branch in Manchester.

“I’d go in the kitchen at like five in the morning before breakfast.

“And like, it’s just all in like concealed bags,” after a moment of silence he continued, “You know like the eggs?

“They’ll just be in big see-through bags, and they just whack that in the microwave for five minutes,” he said.

He went onto explain how the eggs would rise “like popcorn.”

“Swear down,” he said, “and then they’ll just get it out, slit it open, and in trays and go ‘got three more bags, so just keep putting them in, yeah?’

“It’s horribly done. It’s just in bags, basically frozen.”

It’s safe to say it left the podcast hosts reeling.

“F*** you, Karl,” Joe said, “I don’t know what you’ve done there.”

“I’ve just, like, shut down a Travelodge,” Karl joked.

“I think their f****** breakfasts are lovely.

“I mean, it’s not gonna stop me eating them,” replied Joe.

“It is alright… maybe I shouldn’t have said that,” Karl replied.

Travelodge unlimited breakfast costs £8.99 for adults, while children eat free.

Items include: prime back bacon, Cumberland pork sausages, free range scrambled eggs, crispy hash browns, Quorn vegan sausages, fresh mushrooms, tomatoes and Heinz baked beans.

They also have some lighter options such as fruit salad, Yeo Valley organic yoghurts, and all butter croissants.

Drinks served include tea, coffee, and “chilled fruit juice.”
