Virat Kohli Says ‘Great Honour’ After Meeting PM Modi Following India’s Return Post T20 World Cup 2024 Win
New Delhi: Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and Leg- spinner Yuzvendra Chahal expressed delight after meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday, July 4. The T20 World Cup winning Indian team was hosted by PM Modi for breakfast Upon their arrival back in India from Barbados. Skipper Rohit Sharma and his teammates came back to India after an extended stay in hurricane-hit Barbados after their historical T20 World Cup triumph on Saturday, June 29.
Virat Kohli said it was a great honour to meet the Prime Minister and thanked him for inviting the team to his residence. In visuals shared by the Prime Minister’s Office, Virat Kohli was seen engaging in conversation with PM Modi during a delightful breakfast session. The meeting was filled with smiles and laughter as the Prime Minister listened intently to captivating anecdotes from the T20 world champions.
“What a great honour meeting our honourable prime minister shri narendra modi ji today @narendramodi. Thank you sir for inviting us to the prime ministers residence (sic),” Virat Kohli said.
Virat Kohli also shared a photo of him shaking hands with the Prime Minister during the breakfast session. PM Modi posed with the entire Indian contingent for a photo in which captain Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid were holding the trophy.
Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for his unwavering encouragement, inspiring the team to strive for even greater success.

Captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah were among those who shared their T20 World Cup experiences with PM Modi during an intimate breakfast session at No. 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. The Indian cricket team spent nearly 90 minutes at the residence before heading to New Delhi airport, where they departed for Mumbai for evening felicitation ceremonies.
At the New Delhi airport, thousands of enthusiastic fans greeted the Indian cricketers despite the early morning rain. Rohit Sharma delighted the crowd by proudly displaying the T20 World Cup trophy, while Virat Kohli graciously acknowledged and interacted with fans, even stopping for a few memorable photos at the team hotel in New Delhi.
On Thursday evening, the Indian cricket team will embark on an exhilarating open-top bus parade along Marine Drive. Earlier in the day, a specially designed open-top bus arrived at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Mumbai Cricket Association has announced free entry for fans to join the felicitation ceremony, which will commence right after the thrilling victory parade.
