‘It smells like candied lime, I love it’ fans gush as Lush launch limited-edition ‘tennis ball’ bath bombs for Wimbledon

IN celebration of this year’s Wimbledon tournament, an unlikely shop has decided to collaborate with the event.

That’s right, bathtime connoisseurs Lush have released a specially made bomb for the sport.

The bath bomb looks just like a tennis ball and dissolves to make your bath water a vibrant shade of lime green.

However, you won’t get this one in just any Lush store.

You’ll need to travel to the Lush in Wimbledon itself to pick one up.

You’ll have to hurry though as they’re limited edition and, as the Lush bosses say, “First come, first served.”

And they probably won’t be around for too long as they’re just £5 a pop.

People have been in awe at Lush’s new tennis-related launch and praised the store.

Robyn Munro on X wrote: “My favourite campaign of the week is the new @LushLtd product drop in Wimbledon [heart eyes emoji].

“The team at Lush always smash their product drops.”

Meanwhile, in the Reddit forum LushCosmetics, Lush After Dark shared the bath bomb announcement.

They said: “I really recommend visiting the Wimbledon lush store to get this bath bomb it smells just like candied lime and I love it!”

In the replies, Reddit users seemed excited.

One person said: “Would die. My two loves… lush and tennis!!”

Another penned: “This is so cute [hearts around face emoji].”

“Wow that’s so cool!!!” someone else said.

Lush has created a similar product before, which they launched in 2014.

The tennis bath bomb looked very similar to the 2024 version, and a review from the website All Things Lush described its smell as “a vibrant and uplifting rich fruity smell that encompasses tangerine and orange oils to give it it’s unique aroma.”

They added its scent stuck around for their “40+ minute” bath.

“In the tub, the ballistic is quick to dissolve – immediately beginning to fizz on contact with the water.

“It spews out threads of fluorescent green foam that disperses quickly across the surface and turns your bath into a beautiful haven of colour.

“The vibrancy of the water remains as bright throughout your entire bathing experience and helps to make this a very uplifting and enjoyable experience,” they added

My two loves… lush and tennis!!”

But this isn’t the first time recently Lush has collaborated with a brand or hopped on a trend.

This week they released a line of bath bombs, bars, and other products based on the 90s classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.

“We’re thrilled to once again partner with Lush on an exclusive collection, this time for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” said Rebecca Jenkins, VP of Consumer Products at Paramount, which produces the cartoon

“Lush has created some truly unique products – with less single-use plastic – that thankfully, will leave you smelling much better than the Turtles’ sewer lair.”

Kalem Brinkworth, Creative Lead for Concepts and Collaborations at Lush, said: “We are excited to continue our partnership with Paramount Consumer Products.

When is Wimbledon on?

Wimbledon began on July 1 and will run until July 14. It will be covered every day on the BBC across BBC One and BBC Two. Everything will then be avaliable to watch on iPlayer.

Every day for the two week period, coverage will begin at 1.30pm and last until 9.30pm – this could be earlier or later though depending on when matches finish.

You can also live stream the events from the Wimbledon website. You can access it here.

“In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Lush has created a special plastic-free collection.

“It’s super important to us to ensure our customers are aware of the benefits of reducing their cosmetics packaging, so that they can make informed choices.”

“We hope that Lush products can continue to provide enjoyable and easy ways to switch out plastic packaging this summer and beyond.”
