I’m a traveller & we have strict rules for making the bed – we don’t put pillows at the head like country folk to start

A TRAVELLER has revealed the unique rules they have for making their beds.

Wendy took to her TikTok page to share a video of her 14-year-old daughter perfecting the bed setup.

In the clip, the teenager was seen adding a final pillow to the two already on the bed, which had been placed in a triangle formation.

Once she’d done that, she added another smaller cushion – in another fruit design – before moving on to the end of the bed.

Using a fleece blanket, she cleverly arranged it into a bow at the foot of the bed, before using a tea towel to create another bow on the end.

She then moved over to the bedside table, and used a checked yellow tea towel to create another bow.

“How travellers make their bed,” Wendy wrote over the top of the clip.

“Only 14 and this is how she makes the bed!”

“How us travelers/gypsy makes a bed,” she added in the caption

“Just because I’m in a house, it don’t mean that we don’t make our beds like we do in a trailer/caravan.

“She is only 14 and she know how to do everything.”

“Why are they stacked like that?” one person asked in the comments section.

With Wendy jokingly replying: “It’s to stop the husband lying down on it after work.”

“Are your kids not allowed to lay down during the day or do they do it up every time?” another questioned.

Wendy later clarified that it’s a way of making the bed look “fancy”, and also stops people sitting on it and messing it up.

“Imagine… if traveler women started their own cleaning companies. Overnight success!” someone else commented on the video.

“I think you were trying to say ‘you can take the traveller out of the trailer but never the trailer out of the traveller’,” another wrote, with a heart emoji.

Facts on Gypsy and Traveller communities

Typically, Gypsies is a term used to describe Romani people, who migrated to Europe from India.

Meanwhile, traveller refers to a group of people who usually have either Irish, Scottish or English heritage.

It’s though that around 300,000 Gypsy Roma and Irish Travellers live in the UK.

Both groups come from nomadic ways of life, however, as it is increasingly difficult to find land to live on many are moving into permanent housing.

They place high value on family life and often live close together even after reaching adult years and getting married.

Often the men are the breadwinners of the family while the women stay home.

While many English gypsy girls are allowed to drink alcohol and go on holiday with their friends before they get married, many Irish traveller girls are not allowed to do this.

“I’m always fascinated by the decor and housekeeping techniques of travellers,” someone else said.

As another commented: “Obsessed with these videos!

“When I was a kid I loved watching traveller stuff too lol.”
