Ceiling collapses at Lafayette apartment, tenant says management did not resolve past complaints
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)-- One tenant's ceiling collapsed in her Lafayette apartment earlier this week.
The tenant at Himbola Manor Apartments said management has done nothing permanent to fix the problem.
"It's not even an apartment," the tenant said. "That's just a place to store your clothes."
The tenant was fixing a bottle for her baby when the ceiling collapsed in her apartment Monday morning.
The tenant claims management has not checked on the collapsed ceiling yet or past complaints of mold, holes in the ceiling and broken plumbing.
She told News 10 that her toilet does not work, and she has to shower at someone else's home because the shower head is damaged.
"They have no plumber, no maintenance man, no nothing," the tenant said.
Another tenant said they just want management to fix the major issues at their complex.
"I want to see somebody that's concerned and fix up things," the tenant said. "Just because we are in low environment and income in this don't mean y'all need to keep us living like that."
News 10 visited the management office Wednesday, and no one answered the door. News 10 also called to speak to them and did not get any answer.
News 10 reached out to the Louisiana Housing Corporation, who said that tenants should contact them to investigate if maintenance issues are not resolved by the complex's owner or manager.
