JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) - This Fourth of July in Wamego, 12,000 lbs. of fireworks will be shot off in just 30 minutes.

Efren Perez is an Uber Driver in Las Vegas, NV. He and his family travelled more than 1,200 miles to see the fireworks display in Wamego, also known as Boomtown, USA.

"Through my business in Las Vegas, I met a lot of people from Kansas. And, everybody suggested for us to come by for 4th of July weekend," he said.

In Junction City, the Freedom Fest is getting lots of business, too.

Nathan Butler is the Co-Chair of the Freedom Fest, and also a state representative.

"Our hotels are filled, and it's just an exciting opportunity to reach out and let people see what Junction City is all about," he said.

The Freedom Fest starts Wednesday, July 3 and runs all the way through Sunday, July 7. Every night, live rock bands will perform on stage.

For Perez, the food is the icing on top.

"Last night we [treated] ourselves to some funnel cake. It was amazing. Nice and sweet," Perez said through a smile.

Both venues expect to host over 50,000 visitors throughout the celebration, according to organizers.
