Minor League Recap: Rubber Ducks Get Second Straight Walk-Off Win
Minor League Recap for Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024
Mud Hens 5, Columbus Clippers 2
Kyle Manzardo was out for the second straight game with something reportedly minor after sustaining it during warm-ups before Monday’s game. Angel Martinez tried to pick up the slack going 3 for 5 with a double and a home run, but it wasn’t enough to lift Columbus to a victory. Nick Sandlin pitched a scoreless inning in rehabbing relief.
For the second straight day, Petey Halpin walked off the Sea Wolves with a single, his third of the day. C.J. Kayfus continued to excel, going 3 for 5 with a double. My recent prospect crush, Tommy Mace, had a bad day giving up 10 hits and six runs in five innings. No walks, though!
A day to forget for the Captains, as Jorge Burgos had their only hit.
Ralphy Velazquez went 3 for 4 with a double and Jackson Humphries threw four and a third scoreless, racking up seven strikeouts in the Lynchburg win.
ACL Brewers 3, ACL Guardians 1
Shortstop Welbyn Francisca went 3 for 5 and left-hander Jacob Bresnahan went four scoreless innings, striking out seven. Both are exciting teenage prospects to watch out for in the future.
