Rivers Casino and Resort holds blood drive

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Rivers Casino and Resort will host a blood drive on Tuesday, July 9, as donations reach a critical level nationwide. With summer in full swing, the American Red Cross sees low donor turnouts when patients' needs remain high.

The blood drive is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; donors can make an appointment online through the American Red Cross website with the sponsor code "RiversCasinoResort." While supplies last, all donors can win a 2025 Ram 1500 Big Horn and receive a Red Cross umbrella.

The Red Cross has seen a steep decline in blood donations since late spring, and type O blood and platelets are needed. Natural disasters like hurricanes, tornados, and flooding not only cause travel hazards but often cancel blood drives, impacting the nation's blood supply.
