Menacing suspect arrested after Salem police find brass knuckles, possible fentanyl in truck
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A man accused of menacing another person at a Salem park was arrested Tuesday morning after authorities found firearms and suspected drugs in his truck, according to Salem Police Department.
Around 7:30 a.m., a community member at Riverfront Park reported that a man driving a truck pointed a gun at him and made a threatening statement as he approached the truck.
An officer patrolling the area found the suspect – identified as 38-year-old Alex Thomas Morgan – on the scene and arrested him after finding two handguns in his truck, along with two sets of brass knuckles, a substance believed to be fentanyl, and more than $500 in cash.
Morgan was taken to Marion County Jail on several charges including menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, four counts of felon in possession of a weapon, and delivery of a controlled substance.
His arraignment is set for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
