Coronation Street resident in pregnancy shock as soap recycles sibling’s storyline from eight years ago

CORONATION Street dropped a pregnancy bombshell as one resident discovered they were expecting a baby.

The bombshell came amid a hospital dash on the ITV soap opera.

Toyah is pregnant with Nick’s baby
The news was revealed to all of the family

Toyah Habeeb – played by Georgia Taylor – was left stunned when a doctor confirmed that her stomach pains were as a result of a surprise pregnancy.

In recent weeks, Toyah has been left reeling after it came to light that she had buried her own dead baby after being raped back in the early 2000s.

She struggled to cope when the body of her daughter, Rose, was found and after being acquitted of any wrongdoing by the cops, she was allowed to hold a funeral for her child.

Amid all of this, she was being targeted by Rowan Cunliffe, the leader of Leanne’s bizarre cult that has been involved in a rivalry with Toyah.

After being sued and facing jail time for going after Rowan and his group, Toyah was left drained and ended up hopping into bed with Nick, Leanne’s husband, on the day of Rose’s funeral.

Rowan managed to get some snapshots of Nick and Toyah in action and has been using them as a blackmail plot.

Three weeks on, Toyah was left blindsided when the doctor told her she was with child in front of a stunned Leanne and a panic-stricken Nick.

Toyah has famously been unable to conceive in recent years and has undergone many rounds of well-documented IVF to have a child.

She has seen her fair share of baby drama’s amid a secret step-sister surrogacy plot where she planned to have Leanne’s sister Eva Price’s baby and pass it off as her own, as well as her aforementioned deceased daughter and a disaster time as a foster carer with the husband she went on to kill, Imran.

Toyah went on to confirm to Nick only that her baby was as a result of their one-night-stand.

The plot line directly mirrors her sister Leanne who fell pregnant to a one-night-stand eight years ago.

Similarly, Leanne had been undergoing fertility issues for years but after a drunken sex session with Steve McDonald, she miraculously fell pregnant with his child, Oliver.

Oliver went on to die a few years later after suffering from a rare disease.

Nick ended up confessing to his brother David about the shock baby as Toyah insisted that she would be keeping the child as it could be the “last chance” she has to be a mother.

Coronation Street's shock exits 2024

Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap:

Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany.

The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza’s grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life.

Paul Foreman will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes.

After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite, portrayed by Peter Ash, was devastated to learn he only had months left to live.

Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering.

Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America.

Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul’s impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full.

Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles.

The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend.

Simon’s been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy.

Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.

It looks likely she’ll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind.

Show stalwart Eileen Grimshaw is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour.

She’s had to leave the Street immediately after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end.

With Leanne in the dark about the father’s identity, despite begging Toyah to reveal all, she soon let slip to Rowan that her sister had found out she was expecting.

Will Rowan use this information to his advantage and expose Toyah and Nick’s affair?

And with Toyah already suffering from stomach pains, will her pregnancy be smooth-sailing?

Leanne was surprised to hear the news
