Coldplay forced to shell out millions as they finally settle bombshell High Court battle with former manager

COLDPLAY have had to pay a seven-figure sum to a former manager who had sued them for £10million.

The Fix You stars parted ways with Dave Holmes in 2022 after over two decades, sparking a vicious legal battle.

Last year, he claimed to be owed £10million in unpaid commission for Coldplay’s tenth and eleventh albums, which are both unreleased.

But Coldplay, led by Chris Martin, countersued for £14million, claiming Mr Holmes lost control of budgeting for their Music of the Spheres world tour, overspending by £17.5million.

Now, paperwork filed at London’s High Court confirms in May the band agreed an undisclosed seven-figure settlement to prevent private details being made public in court.

A source said: “Chris and the band are happy they’ve drawn a line in the sand but it has come at a price. The settlement cost them millions. They just want to move on.”

Chris’s best pal, Phil Harvey, who helped fund their first recording and was then known as the band’s fifth member, has stepped in to lead their management team.

Coldplay performed at Glastonbury on Saturday night in front of 120,000 fans.

As actor Michael J Fox joined them on stage, Chris told the crowd: “The main reason we’re in a band is because of Back to the Future. Thank you to our hero forever.”
