Will Hurricane Beryl hit NY?

0

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Hurricane Beryl, a Category 4 storm, is making its way toward Jamaica on Wednesday after leaving a path of destruction in the southeast Caribbean.

The storm left at least six people dead, according to The Associated Press. Wind gusts topping out at 145 mph, heavy rainfall and life-threatening storm surges are all predicted to affect Jamaica, per the National Hurricane Center.

With that being said, should New Yorkers be worried about Hurricane Beryl hitting the tri-state area?

It's currently not on track to come to New York, maps show.

Current predictions show that Beryl is tracking toward Mexico and possibly southern Texas. It could make landfall in those areas as a tropical storm as soon as Monday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration previously reported that the Atlantic is expected to have an above-normal hurricane season.
