BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (PIX11)—A Brooklyn organization offers a way for New Yorkers to receive alerts on upcoming affordable housing projects; all you need to do is sign up.

Thanks to a partnership between IMPACCT Brooklyn and the New York City Housing Preservation and Development, you can join their mailing list to stay informed about future projects.

For over 60 years,  IMPACCT Brooklyn has worked on community development in Bedford Stuyvesant, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Ocean Hill-Brownsville, Prospect Heights, and Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Their most recent project, a once-empty parking lot in Brooklyn, has been transformed into affordable housing for New York City seniors.

The new development held its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday. The new building, now known as 811 Lexington Avenue Senior Residences, stands out with its 64 affordable housing units and a range of unique features designed to cater to the needs of older New Yorkers and ensure a high standard of living for the residents.

"Converting an old parking lot into a life-changing, beautiful building is a win for everyone, and that's exactly what we did at 811 Lexington," said NYC Commissioner of Housing Preservation and Development Adolfo Carrión Jr. "These sixty-four homes are designed to meet the needs of older New Yorkers, providing affordable, safe housing that allows aging in place and fosters a sense of community without the worry of being displaced or forgotten. Thank you to IMPACCT Brooklyn and all the partners that made this project possible."

Residents of the 811 Lexington Avenue Senior Residences can enjoy various amenities, including a multi-purpose community room, laundry facilities, outdoor parking, and a landscaped garden. Twenty units have been designated for seniors at risk of homelessness, with IMPACCT Brooklyn providing case management and additional support services to these residents.
