I ‘shave’ my bikini line using an $8 buy and never get bumps or ingrowns – my blending hack is the key to smooth skin
IF unsmooth skin is not an option this summer, some easy tips might be able to help.
A Redditor is raving about her easy tricks for bidding farewell to bumps around the bikini area.
A beauty lover who wanted smoother skin has shared her summer-ready shaving tips (stock image)[/caption]Redditor Threefingeredtypist went through some trial and error before finding her ultimate smooth shaving technique.
She explained how she started using an affordable buy during the pandemic – Magic Shave Powder.
Made with aloe and vitamin E, she loved the find but was having an issue mixing it until she stumbled upon the perfect solution.
“I’ve been shaving my bikini line occasionally to keep things tidy but the razor bumps came back with a vengeance,” she said.
“The hair itself was so spikey when it came back in and I had been spoiled,” she continued.
But she didn’t give up on the buy just yet – instead, she simply began using a blender bottle.
“It mixed the powder almost instantly. Such a timesaver, why didn’t I think of this before? she asked.
She expanded on her magic method which included mixing two spoonfuls of powder with one spoonful of water.
“Use the blender bottle but don’t ‘shake’ – it’s more of a ‘twirl’. Open – it was in kind of a dough ball – and add half a spoon of water,” she said.
“Twirl the bottle some more like 20 seconds – apply straight from the bottle,” she continued.
“The key is to have a shaving cream-like consistency, too thin and it won’t remove the hair.”
And she had yet another tip for getting an ever-easier shave.
“I find the equal parts suggestion on the container is too watery and runs down my leg, unlike with shaving cream consistency that stays in place,” she said.
She simply keeps the mixture on until it dries out, a process which takes around eight minutes.
“Once it’s dried out – think like a dry clay face mask – I hop in the shower, back to the water, and use a wet rag to wipe off the cream using a small, circular motion,” she said.
The skin-saving sorceress recommends a SoftSheen Carson Magic Razorless Shaving Powder – just make sure to mix it well[/caption]If you want to try the buy for yourself, Amazon sells SoftSheen-Carson Magic Razorless Shaving Powder for $7.30.
The powder is specifically formulated for Black men’s shaving needs and claims to stop razor bumps and be suitable for all beard types.
The find, which features a light fragrance, is available in various strength levels.
Not one to take chances with her skin, she had yet another smoothing trick to share.
“After the shower, I apply a thick lotion like Vanicream in the tub or Palmer’s Cocoa Butter formula,” she said.
“Never had any shave bumps or ingrown hairs but my favorite part is when the hair starts growing back in its spot, not the spikey, get caught in my underwear stubble I get after shaving.”
Another Redditor also agreed with her method.
“I know this is years late, but don’t use the cream – it didn’t work for me either, buy the powder! And mix it yourself! Works like a charm!”
