‘Genuinely pathetic’ rage Samsung fans over missing feature iPhone owners love – and call for tech giant to ‘step up’
SAMSUNG fans are complaining about missing features that Apple fans already enjoy.
Disappointed Samsung owners say their products struggle to match iPhone tech when it comes to finding lost gadgets.
Specifically, Samsung fans have poured scorn on the Galaxy Buds headphones – a rival to the Apple AirPods.
In a Reddit thread, one angry user wrote: “Samsung needs to step up. I genuinely hate Samsung when it comes to my earbuds. They can be lost so easily and right now I’ve fully lost them in my house.
“My brother is an Apple user and whenever he loses his buds, Apple has this feature where it directly points you to where the case is.
“Samsung only does the buds not the case, and I can’t find my buds at all because of it and it’s so infuriating.
“They really need to add a better Find My thing because this is genuinely pathetic.”
There is a Samsung feature to help you find your lost Galaxy Buds.
You can use the Galaxy Wearable app: launch it and tap Find My Earbuds > Start.
This should cause the earbuds to start beeping for three minutes.
Your earbuds won’t be found if the battery is dead or they’re out of Bluetooth range (32 feet) however, Samsung notes.
You can also navigate via GPS to find the buds, but that’s not wildly useful if they’re lost in your home.
In any case, Samsung fans say they’re not exactly impressed by the feature.
One said: “I’ve tried that feature with both Galaxy Buds Live and Galaxy Tab S7 and it never works for me. I could be two feet away from it and it still says it’s searching and nothing else.”
Another wrote: “Same, I’ve tested a few times with the case literally in front of me and doesn’t do anything as well as a couple times I actually misplaced it. It’s completely useless.”
And one added: “Ok so it works….. Only if you were recently connected. Not sure what the time limit is though.
“I first tried finding them after not using them since yesterday. The buds are in the same room I currently in but the locate feature could not detect them.
“I then connected to them briefly, placed them back into the case, and only then was I able to detect them and sound the signal. A bit disappointing.”
FRESHER APPLE?
By contrast, Apple AirPods are extremely easy to find if you’ve lost them.
If you go into the Find My app on iPhone, you can select your AirPods – and even specific buds, or the case on its own.
You can then find your AirPods on a map to navigate to them.
If they’re near you, there’s an option to Play Sound, triggering a series of beeps.
And depending on your iPhone and AirPods model, you can use the Find Nearby feature.
This uses an arrow to navigate you directly to where your AirPods are when they’re close to you.
So you’ll be able to find them if they’re down the back of the sofa or tucked deep inside a backpack.
It’s also possibly to find some AirPods even if they’re offline – courtesy of Apple’s Find My network.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the info button next to your AirPods.

If your AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro (all generations), or AirPods Max are somewhere close by, like in another room in your house, your iPhone or iPad can help guide you to their location. If you have AirPods Pro (2nd generation), you can find the precise location of each of your AirPods and the charging case.
- Open the Find My app on an iPhone or iPad that you previously paired with your AirPods.
- Tap Devices, tap the name of your AirPods, then tap Find.
- Start moving around to locate your AirPods and follow the onscreen instructions.If you have AirPods Pro (2nd generation), you may see an arrow pointing in the direction of your AirPods, an approximate distance telling you how far away they are, and a message saying if they’re located on a different floor.You can also play a sound on your AirPods to help you find them nearby. You may have an option to turn on the flashlight, which can help you find your AirPods in a dark environment.
Then scroll down to the Find My network and make sure that it’s turned on.
That way, Apple devices passing your lost AirPods will be able to detect them and update their location for you anonymously.
It’s also worth turning on Notify When Left Behind.
This will ping you on your iPhone or Apple Watch if you leave your AirPods at an unknown location.
