MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- The 48th annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show will illuminate the New York City skyline Thursday night.

The fireworks show will be held along the Hudson River between West 14th and West 34th Streets. The fireworks will begin around 9:25 p.m. and are free to attend.

The fireworks can be seen with an unobstructed view above the Hudson River. There will be five official public viewing areas in Manhattan. Most of the viewing areas have limited capacity, so organizers recommend you plan ahead.

Macy's recommended drinking plenty of water and bringing a refillable water bottle to the public viewing locations as there may be refill stations close to entry points to select viewing locations.

Lawn chairs, blankets, tents, umbrellas, large backpacks, and glass containers of any kind will not be allowed at the public viewing areas, according to Macy's. Drones and hover cameras will also not be permitted.
