Report: Saudi club are interested in buying Spurs man to play alongside Ronaldo

Journalist Ben Jacobs says that Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr are one to watch out for in the race for Emerson Royal.

Emerson Royal is set to leave Spurs this summer

Emerson’s time at Spurs looks to be up, especially with the news that Tottenham have now landed Archie Gray from Leeds United, with the versatile youngster expected to be Pedro Porro’s understudy next season.

Milan continue to be named as the Brazilian’s most likely destination this summer, with Gazzetta dello Sport asserting last week that the Rossoneri are confident of getting the deal over the line.

The report asserted that while Tottenham value the former Real Betis man at around €20m (£17m), there is a feeling among the San Siro hierarchy that a bid of around €18m (£15.2m) would be enough to clinch the deal.

Al-Nassr are contenders for Emerson Royal

Jacobs has now stated that Al-Nassr have not given up hope of landing Emerson and are now considering making an approach to Tottenham.

The Saudi giants boast of big names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte, Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles and David Ospina in their ranks, and they are allegedly prepared to make the Tottenham star their latest addition.

Jacobs said on The Last Word on Spurs podcast: “I would also keep an eye on Saudi and Al Nassr who are considering making an approach.”

Later in the same podcast, the journalist reiterated: “Keep an eye on Emerson and Al-Nassr if Milan falls through, and I think it will be a surprise if we get to the end of the window and Emerson is still a Spurs player.”

Tottenham will be happy to sell Emerson to the highest bidder but it does not seem like the right-back is too keen on making a move to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career.

Barring any surprises, I expect him to complete his proposed switch to San Siro over the next few weeks.
