World Travel Awards reveals 2024 Caribbean & Americas winners
World Travel Awards – has revealed its 2024 Caribbean and The Americas winners. Headline victors included Jamaica, which was voted ‘Caribbean’s Leading Destination’, as well as ‘Caribbean’s Leading Cruise Destination’ and ‘Caribbean’s Leading Tourist Board’. Turks & Caicos saw off strong competition to win ‘Caribbean’s Leading Beach Destination’, while The Bahamas took the title of ‘Caribbean’s Leading Luxury Island Destination’. St. Vincent & The Grenadines was named ‘Caribbean’s Leading Nature Destination’.
Las Vegas was voted ‘North America’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination’, with Santa Monica taking ‘North America’s Leading Beach Destination’ and SUMMIT One Vanderbilt claiming ‘North America’s Leading Tourist Attraction’. Miami Beach won the coveted honour of ‘North America’s Leading City Destination’.
With world-class beaches, lush jungles and Mayan ruins, Tulum was named ‘Mexico & Central America’s Leading Beach Destination’, with Cozumel taking the title of ‘Mexico & Central America’s Leading Island Destination’. Costa Rica picked up ‘Mexico & Central America’s Leading Destination’.
Peru was voted ‘South America’s Leading Destination’ whilst its innovative gastronomy was acknowledged with the title for ‘South America’s Leading Culinary Destination’ and Machu Picchu as ‘South America’s Leading Tourist Attraction’. Chile enjoyed a strong showing, collecting a quintet of honours including ‘South America’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination’ and ‘South America’s Leading Green Destination’.
The romantic charms of Cartagena de Indias were recognized as the Colombian coastal city picked up ‘South America’s Leading Honeymoon Destination’. Meanwhile, ProColombia was voted ‘South America’s Leading Tourist Board’.
Hospitality winners included St. Lucia’s Fond Doux Eco Resort, hailed ‘Caribbean’s Leading Green Resort’. The relentless drive for excellence helped Sandals Resorts International lift the title of ‘Caribbean’s Leading Hotel Brand’ with the superlative Sandals Saint Vincent & The Grenadines collecting ‘Caribbean’s Leading New Resort’.
Gaia Hotel & Reserve, Costa Rica took the coveted title for ‘Mexico & Central America’s Leading Boutique Hotel’ and La Selva Ecolodge & Retreat was named ‘South America’s Leading Eco-Lodge’.
Other hospitality winners included Jamaica’s Halfmoon (‘Caribbean’s Leading Hotel’); Round Hill Hotel & Villas (‘Caribbean’s Leading Villa Resort’); Beaches Turks & Caicos (‘Caribbean’s Leading All-Inclusive Family Resort’).

In the aviation sector, Bahamasair was named ‘Caribbean’s Leading Airline’, while Sangster International Airport, Jamaica took ‘Caribbean’s Leading Airport’. Delta Air Lines was named ‘North America’s Leading Airline’.
Other winners included GO! Jamaica Travel (‘Caribbean’s Leading Tour Operator’); Enchanting Travels (‘North America’s Leading Tour Operator’); Costamar Travel (‘South America’s Leading Travel Agency’).
The announcement comes as part of WTA’s Grand Tour 2024, a global search for the finest travel and tourism organisations, covering six continents, with upcoming Gala Ceremonies in Manila (Philippines) and Diani Beach (Kenya). The winners of all of WTA’s regional programmes will then progress to the Grand Final in Madeira (Portugal) at the end of the year, when the winners of the prestigious “World’s Leading” categories will be unveiled.
