‘Urgent Make An Accident’: Wrongly Translated Signboard On Mangaluru Highway Goes Viral, Internet In Splits

0

In a rather funny incident, an emergency signboard on a highway near Karnataka’s Kodagu has caught the attention of the internet. The signboard’s translation from Kannada to English has left everyone in splits. Shared by an X handle called ‘Kodagu Connects,’ the signboard read, “Urgent make an accident” sparking confusion among passersby. The actual Kannada message, “Avasarave Apaghatakke Karana,” translates to “Over speeding is the reason for accidents.” Positioned near Sampaje on the Madikeri to Mangaluru National Highway 275, the signboard’s mistranslation has been criticized by some for its poor translation quality, while others found humor in the error.

A user said, “‘Haste is the cause of the accident’ the real translation,” “Bro used chatgpt even for this,” another person joked.

Another said, “One comma after urgent and the meaning will completely change.”

“Still better than ridiculous boards I have seen in France and Germany. Kindly don’t judge people by their language knowledge,” said a user.

“Better tag insurance agents. They will get it fixed fast.” “This is called ‘billboard’ bhagya from Karnataka sarkara,” said another user.
