Defective number plates: ₹2.57 crore fine imposed on violators till May this year, Greater Chennai police tells Madras High Court

Additional Commissioner of Police says, ₹89.09 lakh of the fine amount had already been collected after 17,818 out of the 51,414 cases ended up in conviction
