American Kolache opening west Topeka location this fall

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Topekans will soon be able to enjoy fresh baked goods from a new eatery set to open in a few months.

27 News spoke with Russell Clark, owner of the American Kolache franchise, about his plans to open a new location in the Capital City. This will be the first American Kolache location in Kansas.

Clark said the American Kolache in Topeka is likely to open in October this year at 5938 SW 17th Street. This brings the total number of American Kolache locations in the U.S. to 12.

"We do fresh baked sweet and savory kolaches," Clark said. "Kolaches are basically about the size of a dinner roll and they have all kinds of deliciousness inside."

Kolaches and other baked goods will be made in-house once the business opens its doors to the public. American Kolache will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays. Some menu items include:

• Sausage and gravy
• Philly cheesesteak
• Sloppy joe
• St. Louis pizza
• Apple pie
• Cinnamon rolls

Clark said he plans to partner with at least two established local businesses to help offer additional purchasing options to customers. These include a BBQ restaurant and a local coffee roaster. People can eat on location or get delivery through DoorDash.

"We're excited to be in Topeka," Clark said.
