Now it has emerged Betro, who is from Milwaukee in Wisconsin, was arrested in Armenia this morning, MailOnline reported.
She was allegedly living in a rented one-bed flat on the outskirts of the capital city Yerevan.
It is understood Armenian police officers detained her in a dawn raid with CCTV showing her being led away.
Betro now reportedly faces being extradited back to the UK after West Midlands Police submitted a request through the Home Office.
The Sun has contacted West Midlands Police for comment.
The American citizen has been internationally-wanted since an attempted hit in September 2019.
It was previously revealed that she had been communicating with friends from her hometown, according to DailyMail.com.
One male friend shared an article about the murder-for-hire plot with Betro on Facebook and wrote: “Lot what are you up to?”
She is said to have replied: “Dude I saw, like wtf I don’t even know where to start with all the misinformation that’s said about me.
“It’s a f**king sh*t show.”
The friend, who hasn’t seen Betro for about a year, messaged back: “I’m glad you are OK! Do you need anything or can I help you somehow?”
She responded: “Idk dude. I don’t think there’s anything you can help with but I really appreciate you reaching out.”
Her male friend added: “She’s never been anything but the nicest person in the world.”
Betro’s mother Jeanne Johnson, who lives in trailer park in Stevens Point, was also approached about the alleged crime.
She said she was “shocked” and described anticipating her daughter would one day end up in “trouble or dead”.
She’s never been anything but the nicest person in the world.

Ms Johnson also said Betro was not “dumb” and knew “how to hide”.
It comes after Betro was said to have snapped a selfie with a devil horn effect a day before she tried to murder the family.
She had also boasted about meeting her “partner in crime” in Manchester – and posted photos of cocktails.
Following the botched assassination attempt, she returned to the property in a taxi and fired her weapon three times at the house.
She also text Sikander Ali’s father Aslat Mahamud, the intended target, saying “where are you hiding?” and “stop playing hide and seek”.
Betro later fled back to Chicago while police tracked down Nazir and Aslam and charged them in connection with the assassination plot.
Nazir and Aslam, of Derby, were found guilty of conspiracy to murder following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
