And she admitted she’s sick of reading the vile comments attacking her and missing Jay’s family.

The former STV and Channel 5 presenter blasted those who have condemned Jay’s relatives for raising more than £47,000 online.

Isla said: “I’m getting really angry about the Gofundme stuff. It’s an automatic thing to do.

“These really annoying people – just shut up. Just leave them alone for God’s sake.

“My head is going to explode. I’ve not had enough sleep.”

Isla, originally from Aberdeenshire, revealed she was contacted by Jay’s mum Debbie after she spoke about the story on the ITV show.

She said the distraught mother pleaded with her to get involved because she trusted her.

The journalist and podcaster flew out to the holiday island straight away and retraced Jay’s final known steps on air.

But she was stunned when she was attacked online for doing her job.

Isla said: “I’m a journalist. I have been a journalist since I was 16 years old.

“I’m vastly experienced. I’ve won awards for what I do. And what do journalists do? We go to the location of a story and we report on them.

“I find it rather hilarious that has become the focus.

“I genuinely really don’t care about the stupid comments because they’re written by people who have absolutely no clue what they’re talking about.

“And they can go and just maybe spend their time doing something more useful.”

Since getting involved in the case Isla has been forced to post updates online after getting questions from fans.

She said the queries have been “relentless” but she’s also been inundated with fake and AI-enhanced clips of Jay, 19.

In her latest online post she revealed she was flying back to Tenerife.

Isla added: “There are a lot of things going on behind the scenes.

“It’s not my job to let you guys know every second of the day what is going on. I will keep you posted.

“Don’t send me AI videos. Use your head. But I’m grateful.”

Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancs, vanished two weeks ago on his first ever holiday abroad with pals.

He was last seen walking up a mountain near the village of Masca after partying at a music festival.

Cops were searching for him before the hunt was suddenly called off at the weekend.

Jay’s mum and dad Warren held talks with Tenerife cops to find out why the decision was made and make sure police weren’t giving up.

At the moment it’s understood officers have not found any evidence that Jay is a victim of crime.
