Star Insists ‘Transfer To Liverpool Won’t Happen’ Despite Arne Slot Talks
Feyenoord star David Hancko has revealed that his discussions with Liverpool boss Arne Slot have left him with the impression that the Reds are not looking for a player in his position.
The 26-year-old versatile defender was a key part of Slot’s Feyenoord side last season and his performances for Slovakia in Euro 2024 turned some heads.
Slot has taken up the managerial role at Liverpool following Jurgen Klopp’s departure and Hancko has been linked with a move to Merseyside this summer.
The Feyenoord star revealed that he has spoken to Slot three times since the end of last season and believes that Liverpool are not looking for a player in his position.
He is of the view that Slot has a big platform in Liverpool to show what he is capable of and he is confident that the Dutch tactician will be one of the best coaches in the world within three years.
“I think in three years he will be named one of the best coaches in the world”, Hancko told Dutch magazine Voetbal International.
“I see that happening, because I know what he has done with us and now he has the very biggest platform to show that.
“I have a lot of confidence in him and his staff.
“And I am not expressing that appreciation because I hope to go with him to Liverpool, because that chance is small.
“I spoke to him a few times after the season, but I don’t think they are looking for a player in my position, so I think a transfer to Liverpool won’t happen, but I wish him a lot of luck, he really is a fantastic coach.”
Hancko featured regularly for Slovakia at Euro 2024 before getting knocked out of the tournament by England in the round of 16.
