Nintendo reveals how everyone will be able to buy a Switch 2 at launch following original Switch shortages

THE Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular consoles of all time, and Nintendo didn’t predict its unprecedented success.

As soon as the Switch launched, it flew off the shelves, meaning that not everyone who wanted one could buy it.

At the time of production, there was a global chip shortage, meaning that consoles like the Switch and the PS5 were scarce at launch.

Another reason for the scarcity was scalpers, people who purchase popular items and sell them at an inflated price.

The ability to be able to ‘scalp’ an item is dependent on how rare it is, so scalpers often buy a huge number of games to create scarcity.

Nintendo is hoping to tackle this problem and make it a lot easier for people to buy their consoles at launch for the expected price.

Company president Shuntaro Furukawa revealed to shareholders that Nintendo has a plan to combat scalpers.

Furukawa claims that as there are no current or expected chip shortages the company is planning to produce enough Switch 2 consoles to meet customer demand.

By flooding the market with more than enough consoles for everyone who wants one, there should be no way for scalpers to create console scarcity.

We know very little about the upcoming Switch successor. In fact, the name Switch 2 is a nickname created by fans.

Furukawa revealed the Switch 2’s development in a tweet, suggesting that it’s planned to launch in 2025.

Everything else we know about the console is purely rumours and speculation that have not been confirmed.
