BBC News presenter shares bittersweet update to fans as she quits beloved on-screen role
A BBC NEWS presenter has shared a huge update to fans as she announced her departure from her on-screen role.
Viewers of the rolling news channel flooded the anchor with support as she revealed her big news.
Luxmy Gopal took to X, formerly Twitter, to reveal she’s departed her presenting role at BBC Look North.
The 32-year-old was a regular fixture, hosting the news bulletins for West, South and North Yorkshire.
But Luxmy isn’t disappearing from screens – as she confirmed a permanent role in London.
The journalist has been promoted to BBC London and will become a familiar face for viewers in the capital.
Posting on social media, Luxmy said: “I’m happy to say my @BBCLondonNews contract has been made permanent! I’ll miss my lovely @BBCLookNorth team & the wonderful viewers who were so kind to me from my first bulletin there!
“I couldn’t have asked for a better welcome to Yorkshire. I’ll pop back to god’s own soon!”
Fans flooded with Luxmy with well wishes, as one said: “Congratulations. Sounds like Look North was fab, but always knew you were a Londoner really.”
A second wrote: “Congratulations Luxmy! Go fly Lovely!”
