Simone Biles is headed to Paris. The decorated gymnast was named part of the United States’ women’s gymnastics team at the end of the Olympic trials on June 30, celebrating the accomplishment alongside her teammates wearing an all-white ensemble, including Nike Air Max sneakers.
It was first announced in August 2023 that Nike would be the official partner of USA Gymnastics, including footwear and apparel. In 2025, all national team leotards and competition wear at international events will be produced by Nike. The brand also supports other sports, having unveiled the track and field Olympic uniforms at an event in France in April.
When the U.S. gymnastics team was announced on June 30 at Minneapolis’ Target Center, Biles was dressed in the official team warm up outfit — as were her 2024 Olympic teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera. The bottom half of the crisp white ensemble includes form-fitting pants that flare at the bottom with zippers along the sides. The athletes also wore structured zip-up collared jackets with a matador-style cut.
Completing the look, Biles wore a variation of Nike Air Max sneakers in an all-white colorway. The shoe features a mesh upper and a small Nike swoosh displayed on a glossy triangular accent on the side. The shoes also include four circular accents along the midsole.
One of Nike’s signature shoes, Air Max sneakers were first released in 1987 and have become known for their unique cushioning technology. Air Max Day recently took place in March, when the company revealed updated Air technology and made other announcements related to the popular shoe style.
This year marks Simone Biles’ return to the Olympics after exiting the Tokyo Games in the midst of the competition for reasons related to her mental health back in 2021. The partnership between Nike and USA Gymnastics also comes after Biles left a partnership with Nike and subsequently signed with Athleta in 2021; Biles has expressed that she appreciates how Athleta supports women.
Off the gymnastics mat, Biles slipped on a pair of 5-inch platform white heels for her wedding to NFL player Jonathan Owens in 2023.
